Press Release from LAMBAC
Gore Bay –
September 26, 2006 – The four
communities of Assiginack, Central
Manitoulin, NEMI and Gore Bay and the
LaCloche Manitoulin Business Assistance
Corporation (LAMBAC) have discovered a
wealth of information in the surveys
conducted by local area businesses.
Over 100 businesses answered the lengthy
Business Retention and Expansion survey
which asked questions on all aspects of
their business and their community. The
product of this effort is a gold mine of
accurate and relevant information;
information that will be used to guide
specific community economic
development. Already the data is
driving Island wide initiatives
including reinvigorating festival and
event coordination, adding the
“Manitoulin Made Trade Show” as a
permanent Island activity and developing
training in tourism package
development. More initiatives will be
spawned as each community continues with
its local planning efforts supported by
LAMBAC. Again, the BR+E Leadership Team
and LAMBAC thank all volunteers and
businesses who have participated in the
process thus far. Truly, community
involvement is the key to the BR+E’s
success.
