LAMBAC (the LaCloche Manitoulin Business Assistance Corporation) is a  community-based non-profit corporation which has worked hard to help the LaCloche Manitoulin region prosper throughout our twenty year existence.  We are one of 268 Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) across the country, all sponsored by Industry Canada.  It is also one of 24 CFDCs in Northern Ontario, all sponsored by FedNor within Industry Canada.

Communities themselves are best equipped to make decisions affecting their futures.  Therefore LAMBAC employs local staff and is governed by a volunteer board of directors made up of business and community leaders chosen to represent the community at large.

JOB CREATION AND BUSINESS EXPANSION

- To encourage the creation and expansion of local business ventures, thus providing employment opportunities.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

- To encourage and support entrepreneurship in the region.

SMALL BUSINESS LOANS

- To support the creation/maintenance of jobs in the business community through the investment/loan fund.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

- To work in cooperation with existing community economic development programs and groups.

• $1.2 million loaned to 31 small businesses in the region

• 135 jobs created and maintained through loans to small businesses

• 11 small business start-ups through the Self-Employment Benefit Program.

• Business counselling provided to 199 clients

• 16 small community projects supported through the LIP fund

• Assisted with 8 regional Community Economic Development projects
